Delete your YamYam account

YamYam AI: Calories & Recipes · by Code Energy

This page explains how to delete your account and data in YamYam AI: Calories & Recipes, the app by Code Energy. You can do it in the app in a few seconds, or ask us by email if you no longer have the app.

Before you delete

  • Cancel your subscription first. Deleting your account doesn't cancel Premium, and the store keeps charging an active subscription. Cancel it in Google Play subscriptions or in App Store subscriptions (on iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions).
  • Download your data if you want a copy: Profile › Privacy › “Download my data”. Once deleted, it can't be recovered.
  • Shared home: deleting your account takes you out of it, like “Leave home” on the Fridge screen. If you created it, another member takes it over; if you're the last member, it's deleted with its list.

Delete in the app

  • Open YamYam and tap your profile picture at the top right of the Home screen.
  • Scroll down to Account and tap “Delete Account & Data”.
  • Tap “Delete forever” to confirm.
  • If asked, confirm your Google or Apple account (choose the same account you signed in with).

With a Google or Apple account you need an internet connection. Guest sessions are deleted the same way; without a connection the data on the phone is still deleted, but the anonymous guest ID may stay in Firebase Authentication. The anonymous purchase ID that RevenueCat gives guests isn't deleted (see “What is kept and for how long”). Deletion happens immediately and the app returns to the welcome screen.

Delete without the app

Write to privacy@codeenergy.org with the subject “Delete my YamYam account”, if possible from the email address of the Google or Apple account you used, and tell us whether you signed in with Google or Apple. If you used Apple's Hide My Email, send us the relay address, which you'll find in your Apple Account settings under Sign in with Apple.

If needed, we'll ask you to confirm your identity. Then we delete your account and cloud data and email you when it's done. Data stored only on your phone can't be deleted by us: uninstall the app, or open it and sign out.

What is deleted

  • Your account in Google Firebase Authentication: user ID, email, name, profile photo link and sign-in method.
  • Your cloud profile, if you saved it to your account, including health data (age, sex, weight, height, goal, diets and allergies).
  • Shared homes: you're removed from them. A home you created passes to another member; a home where you're the last member is deleted.
  • AI usage counters and Premium status cache on our server.
  • Consent records (your answers about the AI and the cloud profile) and the AI content reports you sent.
  • Everything on the phone where you delete the account: meals and photos, recipes, lists, fridge, plans, weight, water, workouts, AI trainer, chat, export file and session. Scheduled reminders are cancelled, and your answers about the AI and the cloud profile are reset on the phone. Only the theme and language settings remain, plus any temporary images still in the app's cache (a Chef camera photo, recipe cards you shared or saved, the copy of a picked profile photo) until the system clears them.
  • Google: the app asks Google to revoke YamYam's access to your Google account. Apple: the app asks Apple, through Firebase, to revoke YamYam's Sign in with Apple authorization. If that fails, after the deletion it shows you how to remove it yourself: on iPhone, Settings › your name › Sign-In & Security › Sign in with Apple, choose YamYam and stop using it.
