Terms of Service

Effective date: 1 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Code Energy for the use of the YamYam app (“YamYam AI: Calories & Recipes”) and this website. By continuing past the welcome screen you accept them, together with the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use YamYam.

Who we are

Who can use YamYam

You must be 18 or older. The app asks for your age during setup, and the information you give must be true. YamYam is for personal, non-commercial use.

Your account

  • You can use YamYam as a guest or sign in with Google or Apple. Guests keep everything on the device and can't buy Premium, use AI features or join a shared home.
  • Most of your data is stored only on your phone. Signing out deletes it from the device, and YamYam can't recover it on another phone; use “Download my data” to keep a copy.
  • Keep your Google or Apple account secure: anyone who can sign in with it can use your YamYam account.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile › Account) or as explained at https://yamyam.codeenergy.org/delete-account.

Free features and Premium

Food logging, barcode scanning, water, the weekly summary, gym routines and the exercise library, the fridge and shopping list, viewing saved meal plans, history, data export and account deletion are free. YamYam Premium unlocks every AI feature: food photo analysis, the nutrition chat, AI recipes and drinks, AI meal plans, the AI trainer, Home tips and AI help in the fridge and shopping list.

To keep the service fair and sustainable, each AI feature has a daily limit per user, which resets every day at 00:00 UTC. The current limits are listed on the Support page. Requests outside the purpose of a feature (for example, questions unrelated to food) are declined. We may change features and limits; if a change significantly reduces what Premium includes, we'll tell you before it applies.

Subscriptions and payments

  • Premium is offered as monthly and yearly subscriptions that renew automatically, and as a one-time lifetime purchase. The options, prices (including taxes where applicable) and any free trial or introductory offer are shown in the app and in the store before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Google Play or Apple account when you confirm the purchase. You must be signed in with Google or Apple to buy.
  • A subscription renews at the same price and for the same period until you cancel it (see “Cancellation, refunds and right of withdrawal”).
  • When a free trial or introductory offer ends, the regular price is charged automatically unless you cancel before.
  • The lifetime purchase is paid once, doesn't renew and isn't charged again.
  • If a store changes a subscription price, it informs you as its rules require.

Restoring purchases: Premium is linked to the Google or Apple account you sign in with. On a new phone, sign in with the same account and, if needed, tap “Restore purchase” in Profile.

Cancellation, refunds and right of withdrawal

Premium is bought and managed through Google Play or the App Store, and the store where you bought it also handles cancellation and refunds, under its own terms. If YamYam is published in another store, such as Huawei AppGallery, the same applies to purchases made there.

Cancelling: you cancel in your store account. On Google Play: Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions (https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions?package=org.codeenergy.yamyam). On iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions (https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions). In the app, when Premium is active, Profile › Subscription › “Manage subscription” opens the store page. Cancelling stops the automatic renewal and takes effect at the end of the current paid period: you keep Premium until then and you aren't charged again. On the App Store, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription. The lifetime purchase doesn't renew, so there's nothing to cancel.

Refunds follow the refund policies of the store where you paid. For Apple, you can request one at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, Google Play's refund policy applies, and you can ask from your Google Play order history or through Google Play support. For questions about a charge, write to billing@codeenergy.org.

Right of withdrawal and consumer rights: if you're a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you keep your statutory rights, including the right of withdrawal for digital services where it applies. It's handled by the store that sold you Premium. Nothing in these terms limits the rights that consumer law gives you and that can't be waived by contract.

AI features

AI features use Google's Gemini model. Answers are generated automatically and may be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for you: calories and macros from photos are estimates, and a recipe may contain an ingredient you can't eat even if you told the app about your allergies. Always check ingredients, allergens and labels yourself, and use your own judgement on food safety and exercise. You can report an answer with “Report response”.

You keep your rights over the photos, voice notes and texts you send. You allow us to process them only to provide the feature you asked for, as described in the Privacy Policy. You may use the AI answers for your personal use.

Not medical advice

YamYam is not a medical device and doesn't diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Its content, including AI answers, targets, plans and workouts, is general information for healthy adults. Talk to a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and before changing your diet or training if you have a health condition, an injury, a food allergy or an eating disorder, or if you're pregnant. Stop exercising if something hurts.

Acceptable use

  • Don't use YamYam for anything illegal, harmful or offensive, or to create such content with the AI.
  • Don't send photos, audio or text of other people without their permission, or content you don't have the right to share.
  • Don't try to get around daily limits, Premium checks or security measures, to access other users' data (for example by guessing home codes), or to use the service through bots or automated access.
  • Don't copy, modify, resell or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
  • Share your home code only with people you want to give access to the shared list and to members' names and photos.

Shared home

If you create or join a shared home, its members see your name, your profile photo and the shared list, and any signed-in user who has the code, its QR code or its invitation link can view it. If the creator leaves or deletes their account, another member takes over; the home is deleted when its last member leaves or deletes their account.

Intellectual property

The app, its design, texts, brand and exercise library belong to Code Energy or its licensors. Third-party content, such as the exercise illustrations, is used under its licences, shown in Profile › “Credits and licenses”, and Open Food Facts product data is available under its own open licences. You get a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the app; these terms don't transfer any other rights to you.

Availability and changes

We work to keep YamYam available, but we can't guarantee that it will always work without interruptions or errors. AI features, sign-in, purchases and barcode lookups need an internet connection. On devices without Google services, Google sign-in and Google Play purchases aren't available. We may update, change or discontinue features, and we'll update these terms when needed.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, YamYam is provided “as is”. Code Energy isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, for decisions you make based on the app's content or AI answers, or for the loss of data that is stored only on your device (for example after signing out or uninstalling). Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or for wilful misconduct, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Ending your use

You can stop using YamYam and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If you paid for Premium, the store's refund rules apply (see “Cancellation, refunds and right of withdrawal”).

Governing law

[Governing law and competent courts: pending] If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and can go to the courts where you live.

Changes to these terms

We'll publish new versions here and in the app with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in a reasonable way before it applies, for example in an app update. If you keep using YamYam after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
